Natural Hair Sistas

Dear Flawless readers,

I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to read the articles listed in the Flawless Newsletter. Being a beauty professional for more than 17yrs I will be sharing with you my personal knowledge and skill in order to help you understand the true meaning of the word BEAUTY.

Beauty is everywhere and is (of course ) in the eye of the beholder. what you may think is beautiful others may not understand. The great thing about beauty is that you have total control over what you accept as beautiful. Culturally we usually give props to the same things or things that are similar to the traditional characteristics of  people, things, places etc. I will share with you my ideas of beauty and feel free comment, suggest, etc.

I hope you enjoy! Your question and comments are highly requested!

BOLD, EXCITING, & DARING

When black women hear the word natural, they immediately think of the word Nappy! The real truth is that you dont know how to go natural!

Natural means, your hair in it's healthiest condition. Once the hair is chemically processed and broken down , that hair will never be as strong as it was in it's natural state.

There is nothing wrong with chemical processing, it just depends on what you are looking for!

I get the best results with natural oil products, they are concentrated and do exactly what they are designed to do. Petroleum based oils ( Grease ) are very waxy and weigh the hair down, although they can be filled with essential oils but the base product is still petroleum.

Let me know your thoughts and experiences with various oils!

  2. Can I bleach my hair right after an Apogee treatment? if not, when can I and what do I need to do in the meantime?

  3. Its not good because aphogee is protein based which is drying and bleach is a drying agent also, make sure you do a deep moisturizer to bring the moisture back before you bleach.

  4. I would do a deep conditioning treatment twice a week for 2 weeks before you put any other drying agent on the hair ( peroxide, enzymes or sodium hydroxide which is in relaxers and texturizers) . If after the treatments the hair still seem dry, i would continue the moisture treatments until the moisture balance is corrected.
